Hi, I’m Abril!
Abril, a bilingual speech therapist, specializes in neurodiversity-affirming, child-led treatment approaches for early intervention/language delay, gestalt-language processing, speech-sound disorders and caregiver coaching for pediatric clients. Additionally, Abril provides comprehensive care for adult clients struggling with cognitive-communication concerns, executive functioning, and vocal hygiene/phonotrauma.
Abril is passionate about upholding evidence-based practices and has experience providing culturally-informed, connection-centered care for pediatric and adult clients.
About Abril
Abril is a first-generation graduate from University of the Pacific who earned her Bachelor of Science in 2018 and Master of Science in 2019 for Speech-Language Pathology.
As a clinician, Abril has provided family-centered care in the private practice, educational, and acute care settings for pediatric and adult populations.
In addition, she has volunteered in community support groups and camps beneficial to traumatic brain injury (TBI) survivors and users of augmentative alternative communication (AAC).
Abril prioritizes naturalistic, client-led treatment approaches for language delays, speech sound disorders, fluency disorders, childhood apraxia of speech, and supports a neurodiversity affirming approach for treating autistic clients in need of speech/language services.
Abril is passionate about supporting underserved families and advocating for clients in emerging stages of second-language development.
In addition, I supervise graduate student interns and provide guidance & support within collaborative interdisciplinary teams.
